WhatsApp is currently on the move to give its users’ personal information to its parent company (Facebook) to make it easier for businesses to contact subscribers. And the world’s most popular messenger claims that the changes won’t endanger privacy.
If you are uncomfortable with the idea of your WhatsApp account being linked to Facebook, here are two ways you can easily opt out (you only have limited time do so).
First option
The first way for you to opt out is when the very first time you see the app’s new terms of service. When the notification of the “terms of service have changed” appear, you’ll need to tap on read to view the full document.
Then scroll all the way to the bottom and you’ll see a checkbox that says “share my WhatsApp account information with Facebook to improve my Facebook ads and products experiences”, similar to the image above. Uncheck it and tap agree.
Second option
If you have already agreed to WhatsApp new terms and condition, then you can easily opt out by following the steps below (you have to do so within 30 days of when you first agreed).
Head to Settings -> Account -> Share my account info and uncheck the box.
